According to his forecasts, the number of Russian tourists arriving in Egypt from August this month to the end of this year will range from 400 thousand to 500 thousand people – it depends on the accepted standards for air transportation. He explained such figures by “a significant increase in the tourist flow from Russian cities to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, starting next month, especially since about 8 Russian airlines will receive licenses from the Federal Air Transport Agency of Russia to operate flights to the resorts.”

At the same time, he added that the flow of tourists from Russia to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh will go up. “The number of trips will start to grow in the second half of the year and will peak during the winter tourist season. Egypt has always been the first tourist destination for Russian tourists in the winter season, “he stressed.

Dr Atef Abdel Latif added that Russia currently operates more than 20 flights a week to Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada, of which 9 flights to Hurghada and 8 to Sharm el Sheikh. Moreover, all Russian flights to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada are regular. “If Russian airlines begin to operate charter flights to the tourist cities of the Red Sea and South Sinai, the number of Russian tourists in Egypt will at least double,” he added.
